This report develops and expand on theTrade Facilitation and Logistics Development StrategyReport, published in December 2006. This report employs asupply chain perspective which focuses on the trade andtransportation needs of the products and supply chainsassessed. These specific needs are then compared with thetrade facilitation services available, the gaps betweenthese and the needs identified, recommendations made forclosing the gaps. Three export and three importproducts/product groups have been chosen for analysis, forthe highest export growthpotential. Given the recentdramatic decline in the market price of minerals and thedrop in demand for them, diversification of Mongolia'seconomy and international trade has assumed renewedimportance. In this review we have combined attention totraditional exports as support for diversification of trade, while not ignoring the export of minerals and import ofmining equipment as these will continue to be important.
