The incubator for agribusiness andagroindustry at Bogor agricultural university, Indonesia(IAA-IPB) assists during three stages in the incubationprocess: early incubation (mentoring creative ideas,assisting in evaluation of market prospects, defining, andoutsourcing technology needs);incubation (helping productionbegin); and post-graduation (consulting on business planrevision and facilitating access to financial resources anda market network for new products and new technologyimplementation). The utmost attention must be paid toincubatees during both the selection process and theincubation period, in order to ensure that they grow and aresuccessful. One-to-one interaction with the incubatees isnecessary to understand problems and special needs and tohelp find solutions. In addition, incubators are advised tomaintain relations with successful graduates. One willcontinue to need assistance, one will be able to assist theincubator by being role models to new incubatees, andrepresent a potential source of income for the incubatorthrough profit sharing or equity investment. The incubatorfacility at Darmaga campus near Bogor in 2011 inaugurated anew building with a pilot plant and space for 14 residentincubatees. New equipment was procured with funding from thegovernment. Facilities include sharing of other IPBfacilities such as a food processing plant, workshops, and laboratories.
