This study is a small-scale follow-up toan earlier World Bank study that analyzed the market failureof LPG in Nigeria and developed a roadmap to develop the useof LPG in that country to its full potential. Given thesuccess of the Nigerian LPG work, it seemed obvious thatother oil and gas-producing countries could benefit from theinsights gained in Nigeria. Not unlike Nigeria, Cameroon hasa thriving oil industry, yet it continues to flare most ofits associated gas, burning more than enough LPG in theprocess to meet all its domestic needs and leave more forexports, while at the same time, it is importing LPG atworld prices. Clearly, ifany country qualifies foran LPG policy review, it is Cameroon.
