The paper provides a detailed review ofThomas Piketty's book "Capital in the 21stcentury." It focuses on the new contributions of thebook, and in particular on its unified treatment of economicgrowth, functional income distribution, and concentration ofpersonal income. It concludes that Piketty'sreinvigoration of classical and empircally-drven approach islikely to have a profound impact on economics.
