【 摘 要 】

This paper investigates the extent ofChina's export boom in machinery and analyzes trade incomponents and finished machinery between China andSoutheast Asia. China has increased its world market sharein machinery exports. The median relative unit value of itsfinished machinery exports has also risen. Yet the authorfinds no evidence that China's expansion in the worldmachinery market has squeezed the market shares of SoutheastAsian machinery exports. Instead, components made bySoutheast Asian countries are increasing in unit value andgaining market share in China.
