【 摘 要 】
Over the past two decades, the Jordanianeducation system has made significant advances. Netenrollment in basic education increased from 89 percent in2000 to 97 percent in 2006. Transition rates to secondaryeducation increased from 63 to 79 percent in the sameperiod. At the same time, Jordan made significant gains oninternational surveys of student achievement, with aparticularly impressive gain of almost 30 points on thescience portion of the Third International Mathematics andScience Study. Changes in test scores over time arepresented and analyzed using decomposition analysis. Thetrends are related to policy changes over time. It is arguedthat benchmarking education systems and constant feedbackbetween researchers and policymakers contributed to this achievement.
