This overview of climate changeactivities in the Kyrgyz Republic is part of a series ofcountry notes for five Central Asian countries thatsummarize climate portfolio in a number of sectors, namelyagriculture, forestry, water, health, energy, and transport.Recognizing the nature and significance of climate changecontribution to an increase in disaster risk, the note alsolooks into the development partners' approaches andmeasures in this area. This note further provides a briefoverview of the Kyrgyz Republic climate context in terms ofobserved impacts and historical trends as well as climateprojections specific to sectors that are considered to beessential to the country's economic development.Finally, the note assesses national policy and institutionalcontext related to climate change as well as suggestspotential ways forward that can help the Kyrgyz Republicmainstream climate considerations into developmentactivities and planning and create public demand for climate actions.
