【 摘 要 】
The authors present a new tool, theRMSM-X+P, which essentially consists of a RMSM-X model withan additional module for poverty and social indicators. Thislinkage facilitates the analysis of the impact of variousmacroeconomic shocks on a selected set of key socialindicators. Poverty analysis is performed by the use of apoverty equation (which is estimated using pooled data for agroup of low-income countries) that links the incidence ofpoverty to inflation, the literacy rate, real GDP percapita, the degree of trade openness, and income inequality.Similarly, the authors analyze the effects of variousmacroeconomic shocks on education and health with the aid ofequations for education and health. This new tool allows theuser to address a limited number of policy issues. However,it does possess several merits, perhaps the most substantialbeing that it permits the users to move beyond approachesthat focus on the partial correlation between growth andpoverty in discussions of poverty reduction.
