【 摘 要 】
The aim of this study is to provide amicroeconomic investigation of the concept ofentrepreneurship; in particular, it discusses the followingissues: 1) the alternative ways of looking atentrepreneurship, distinguishing "creativedestruction" from simple "turbulence"; 2) thedifferent microeconomic determinants of new firm formation,distinguishing "progressive" from"regressive" drivers; 3) the relationship betweenex-ante characteristics (of the founder) and post-entryperformance (of the new firm); and 4) the possible scope foran economic policy aimed at maximizing the impact ofentrepreneurship on economic growth. Where possible andappropriate, the paper devotes particular attention to thespecific features characterizing entrepreneurship indeveloping countries.
