【 摘 要 】
Differing value judgments in measuringinequality underlie the conflicting factual claims about howmuch poor people have shared in the economic gains fromglobalization. Opponents in the debate differ in the extentto which they care about relative inequality versus absoluteinequality, vertical inequalities versus horizontalinequalities, and whether they are consistentlyindividualistic in assessing the extent of inequality. Thevalue judgments on these issues made by both sides needgreater scrutiny if the globalization debate is to move forward.
