This short country report, a result oflarger Information for Development Program(infoDev)-supported survey of Information and CommunicationTechnologies (ICT) in education in Africa, provides ageneral overview of current activities and issues related toICT use in education in the country. Gabon has opted to setup a national system for general access to information usingcomputer related technologies. However, there is currentlyno plan in the education system to incorporate ICT into theadministrative and teaching domains. Of course, the need tocomputerize schools is becoming urgent, but the initiativesrequired to address this need are considerable. A plan formanaging computers, from the National Ministry of Education,has been in development since 2006.
