【 摘 要 】

Under price ceilings and quality floorsfor agricultural inputs in cash crop sectors in developingcountries where credit markets are weak, imperfectinformation on the ability of farmers to pay for theirinputs at the end of the cropping season may lead thedecentralized production of those inputs by risk averseprivate input providers to be inefficient. A coordinatingagency and/or subsidies for new farmers could help toproduce and distribute more agricultural inputs, therebyincreasing the profits for input providers while alsoenabling more farmers to produce the crops that are key totheir livelihood.
