【 摘 要 】

In the agricultural sector, risks areinherent and ubiquitous, posing potentially seriousconsequences for stakeholders and consumers. Risks disruptsupply chains, causing extensive financial and economiclosses. Agricultural risks are also the principal cause oftransient food insecurity, creating a poverty trap formillions of households across the developing world thatenforces a vicious cycle of shock and recovery. Climatechange is exacerbating this cycle by shifting the frequencyand intensity of weather related risks and increasinguncertainty. Effective agricultural risk management (ARM) iscrucial to increasing economic growth, improving foodsecurity, and reducing poverty. Although levels of risk varywithin and between countries, lower-income and highlyagriculture-dependent countries are more vulnerable toagriculture-related risks. In these countries, there is anurgent need to better assess risks, understand theinterconnections between different types of risk, andimprove agricultural risk management strategies.
