【 摘 要 】
Over the past decades, East Asia andPacific's productivity has been gradually catching upwith the frontier (the United States), with China leadingthe pack. Productivity growth has been driven by sustainedwithin-sector productivity growth. Reallocation of labor tosectors with higher productivity, such as industry andservices, also contributed to productivity improvements.Nevertheless, resource misallocation remains. Firm-levelevidence from four East Asia and Pacific countries(Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam) suggeststhat resource misallocation across firms within a sector islarge, albeit declining over time. Private domestic firmsand firms with higher productivity face larger distortions.
