【 摘 要 】

Did unemployment in the Great Recessionhurt people's health? The broad answer is no: joblosses have statistically insignificant impacts onmortality. The exogenous sources of job losses in a U.S.county is the tradable job losses driven by external demandcollapses during the Great Recession. The insignificantrelationship holds for males and females, for all agegroups, and for almost all categories of mortality. Threeimportant exceptions are Alzheimer's, poisoning, and homicide.
