SABER-Tertiary Education is a diagnostictool to assess how education systems perform and to identifypriorities for reforms at the national level. It is part ofthe World Bank’s Systems Approach for Better EducationResults (SABER), which aims to benchmark education systemsat the country level. Bangladesh faces an optimisticscenario in terms of social and economic development. It isone of the world’s most populous countries with an estimated160 million people.This report proceeds as follows. First,the authors describe the context of the tertiary educationsystem in Bangladesh. The authors then proceed with scoringthe six policy dimensions with descriptions followed by aconclusion with a few general observations about tertiaryeducation in Bangladesh.
