Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank Group, discusses children’s and women’s health as absolutely crucial to the core mission of expandingprosperity and ending poverty. He speaks about helpingensure a continuum of care from family planning to pregnancyand safe delivery, to post-natal care, newborn and childhealth. He discusses designing innovative programs thatlink financing to results, producing dramatic gains in bothaccess and quality of health care for poor women andchildren and, most importantly, helping countries put inplace strong health systems. He concludes by saying that donors and development partners have a specialobligation to harmonize aid efforts and remove anybottlenecks to effective service delivery.
