These remarks were delivered by DavidMalpass, President of the World Bank Group, at the G20Leaders Summit held in Osaka, Japan. He spoke about howgiving women better access to economic opportunities iscritical to eliminate differences in living standardsbetween men and women. He highlighted We-Fi which is soimportant and how the Bank was proud to celebrate itstwo-year anniversary in Osaka. He spoke about the developingcountries and the Bank's role in actively identifyingchanges in the private sector environment that will attractinvestment and enable higher living standards and betterlives. He explained the Bank's work in fragilestates, such as the Sahel and the Horn of Africa, to helpcountries build stronger foundations so that young peopleare more able to stay rather than seeking to immigrate. Hediscussed reducing inequality and realizing inclusiveand sustainable growth around the world, and how addressingthese requires jobs, education, healthcare, attention to theenvironment, and robust commerce and trade among neighborsand nations. He concluded by saying that the Bank wouldcontinue to work with all the nations on these challenges.
