The South Asia Regional Gender ActionPlan FY 16-21 (RGAP) applies a gender lens to the World BankGroup (WBG's) work in the region. In doing so, itoutlines a path to enhance the potential of women and men asagents of change towards WBG`s twin goals of povertyreduction and shared prosperity. The RGAP helps guide staffand management to prioritize objectives in tackling the mostcritical and persistent gender issues. It offersrecommendations on how the Bank's Global Practices,Cross-Cutting Solutions Areas, and the InternationalFinancial Corporation can work with country teams toaccelerate progress toward improving outcomes for both womenand men in the South Asia region (SAR). By understanding howgender plays into the sector-specific technical issues ofeach GP and the development outcomes of each country—andthrough improved knowledge of evidence-based approaches thateffectively reduce gender gaps—SAR can address poor genderoutcomes more strategically and collaboratively than ever before.
