Despite economic progress over the lastdecade, disparities between women and men remain salient inArmenia, especially in dimensions that are powerfullyinfluenced by social norms. In domains like education andhealth, gender equality in outcomes in Armenia are broadlycomparable with those in Europe and Central Asia and betterthan those of lower-middle-income countries globally. However, barriers to women's access to economicopportunities persist and gender inequalities are manifestin demographic imbalances, and under-representation inleadership roles. Concerted policy efforts are required toclose gender gaps that hamper growth of the overall economy.
