In 2015, the new constitution of Nepalpromulgated the country as a federal republic with threeautonomous government levels of federal, province, andlocal, each with an elected assembly. Consequently, numerouspolicies and plans were formulated as per the new federalsystem. In line with this change, the government of Nepal(GoN) has formulated Multi-Sector Nutrition Plan-II (MSNPII) (2017–2022) to improve the nutrition status of mothers,adolescents, and children by scaling up nutrition-specificand nutrition-sensitive interventions throughout thecountry. This study reveals the transitional state ofnutrition and early childhood development (ECD) in thecountry as it is adjusting itself in federal structure and governance.
