The Extractive Industries TransparencyInitiative (EITI) is an international standard to promoteopen and accountable management of natural resources. Byencouraging governments, extractive companies, civil societyand the public to engage in discourse around transparency ofthe extractive sector, it aims to facilitate the managementof a country’s natural resource wealth to benefit all itscitizens. The EITI is implemented at the national level. Asof June 2016, 51 countries are implementing the EITI inaccordance with the 2016 EITI Standard. Since its inception,EITI implementing countries have published EITI Reportscovering more than 300 fiscal years. This report providesformat options and recommendations for data output for EITIRequirements listed under the 2016 EITI Standard. Theserecommendations are based on identifying commonly used andevolving data categories under each Requirement and spellout qualitative and quantitative data formats. Whereinternational standards are available and where these areemerging, the report uses these as its basis ofrecommendations. The recommendations for data outputs aremeant to compliment the narrative provided within theCountry Report, and is not to be considered a replacementfor other reporting requirements under the EITI. Theobjective of this report is to present, in a structuredform, data categories and their reporting formats, that canbe used to standardize information generated under each EITIRequirement. The review conducted for this study included asample of recent EITI Country Reports, as well as otherinitiatives and industry standards. These recommendationsshould be considered as a contribution in the effortstowards standardizing data reporting under EITIRequirements, and need to be tested to identify issues withdata collection under the headings as categorized in this report.
