This note aims at providing support tofederal and subnational governments in understanding theincreased risks of Violence against Women (VAW) in thecountry under Coronavirus (COVID-19) and providing the mostappropriate responses in the short, medium and longer term.It points to evidence of epidemic-related risk factorsconnected to increased levels of VAW, trends of VAW duringthe Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic in Brazil, policymeasures and interventions implemented globally to mitigateadverse impacts, as well as response efforts that have beenput in place both by governments and civil societyorganizations. It also compiles existing data available onincreased VAW in the country since the onset of theCoronavirus (COVID-19 pandemic, pointing to the main (directand indirect) links between the two.
