This manual describes strategies for collecting samples within the context of a potential release of biological threat agents. We discuss elements of the sampling process in the framework of several scenarios. The scenarios cannot hope to anticipate all of the possible situations that will actually be encountered, but the basic features of the sampling process will remain the same. Collectors will need a general idea of what theyre looking for, they must consider locations and surfaces from which samples will be collected, must determine the number and type of samples to collect, etc. The manual consists of this introduction, a field guide, and several appendices.
