Manufacture of critical diffusion bonded components could benefit from predictive models of diffusion bond joint strength. Existing models focus on porosity closure, which is a necessary but not sufficient condition for acceptable joint strength. The present work identifies unmodeled dynamics intrinsic to manufacturing but not captured in existing models.
