【 摘 要 】

In this note we present a method for reducing a multi-dimensional heat equation on a rectangle to a family of one-dimensional heat equations, thus raising the possibility of substantially lowering the computational cost. The method is shown to be stable and examples from R2 and R3 are presented, along with execution times. Operation count and storage estimates are also given.
