We study the asymptotic zero distribution of the rescaled Laguerre polynomials, L-n((alpha n))(nz), with the parameter alpha(n) varying in such a way that lim(n-->infinity) alpha(n)/n = -1. The connection with the so-called Szego curve is shown. (C) 2011 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
