【 摘 要 】

Herein, we report for the first time Co-II bis(terpyridine) complexes as instant 'naked eye' colorimetric detectors of cyanide (CN-) in micromolar concentrations in polar solvents, including water, following the formation of the corresponding Co-III tricyanide complex. The new Co-II tricyanide complex [Com(4pyridyl-terpyridine)(CN)3] is characterized by single crystal XRD diffraction. The quanitative detection of cyanide is monitored by UV-vis spectroscopic method and the selectivety of Co-III bis(terpyridine) complexes to the cyanide anion is shown via addition of other anions.
