【 摘 要 】
The COVID-19 pandemic impacted all aspects ofour lives worldwide, including our medical educationsystem. The impact this disruption had on graduatemedical education and graduates’ future practices isstill to be determined. The policy brief by Sonoda inthis issue of the journal analyzed results from theAmerican Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) FamilyMedicine Certification Examination RegistrationQuestionnaire regarding family medicine residencygraduates intended scope of practice.1,2 Data collected from 2017 to 2021 graduates show significantchanges (both increased and decreased) of graduatesintended scope of practice, however visual trajectoryof these changes remained unchanged in the 2021cohort. Intended future scope of practice is one outcome measure that we can monitor to determine theimpact the pandemic had on our learners. Other outcome measures we can monitor include performanceon the ABFM In-Training Examination (ITE), passrates for first-time test takers of the Family MedicineCertification Examination, Accreditation Council forGraduate Medical Education (ACGME) milestonerankings of residents and medical student matriculationinto family medicine residency programs.
