【 摘 要 】
The field of biological sciences enumerates various importantaspects of life forms, some of which remain mysterious to explainor validate. Though there has been a revolutionary advancementof tools and techniques to study different biologicalphenomena under laboratory conditions, there are significantlimitations with implementing each concept in the laboratory.Sometimes, it is practically impossible to simulatethe actual environmental conditions of living systems underin-vitro settings, or sometimes the requirements of life arediscordant with various analytical techniques, or the studyof complex evolutionary processes becomes technically difficultusing wet-lab methods. Thus, these experimental challengesconfine our boundary to explore the real world of biologicalsystems, which may lead to the acquisition of knowledgewith few lacunae. Bioinformatics as a discipline triesto fill those spaces to a major extent using in silico analysisand provides a deeper theoretical foundation and validationof existing biological principles. The importance and potentialof bioinformatics have been witnessed in the pandemictimes to fight against Covid-19. From developing new drugsand vaccines to crop improvement and space and environmentstudies, the field of bioinformatics has many prospects. This article aims to provide a bird’s-eye view of different applicationsand cutting-edge bioinformatics approaches to understandbiological systems and the emerging need to integratethis course into the education framework.
