【 摘 要 】

This paper emphasizes the essential role of a support personfor faculty teaching and assessing the Canadian EngineeringAccreditation Board (CEAB) graduate attributes as part ofan ongoing accreditation cycle. It details the continuousprogram improvement process adopted by the Departmentof Biosystems Engineering at the University of Manitoba, and the role of engineering stakeholders. It recounts a studythat details the supportive efforts of a Research Associatewho helped to validate and implement rubrics withindividual professors as outcomes-based tools for teachingand assessing the 12 CEAB graduate attributes, whichresulted in the creation of 14 rubrics for 12 courses.Findings included new pedagogical understandings, theappreciation of individual support from the ResearchAssociate, and the continued use of rubrics; the work ledmost professors to think deeply and in new ways aboutteaching and assessment. There was evidence that sixprofessors engaged in ‘reverse design’, developing rubricswith targeted learning outcomes and course materials inmind. The work led to critical improvement in teachingpractices and evidence of continual program improvement.Despite overall engagement and success, some professorscontinued to struggle with the concept and use of rubrics. Insum, this experience emphasizes the benefit of a dedicatedperson to support professors to implement rubrics, and increating and sustaining an outcomes-based assessmentculture in the department.
