【 摘 要 】

The Nightingale Hospital London (NHL)was the first of seven new UK NationalHealth Service (NHS) hospitals designed toaddress the potential shortfall in critical carecapacity caused by the rapidly escalating firstwave of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Whenscenes of hospitals at risk of saturation werebeing broadcast internationally, the initialNHL mandate was to deliver a large-scaleintensive care unit (ICU) for up to 4000ventilated patients to increase the capacityof London’s existing hospitals. Before this,ICU bed capacity in London and Englandwas 839 and 3766, respectively.
