【 摘 要 】

The article considers the concept of metaphors of general linguistic type, as well as defines meaning and classification of metaphors in the stylistic theory. The article presents the analysis of literary significance of metaphors, and identified the metaphors’ types and functions, based on Wilde’s comedy “A woman of no importance”.
