【 摘 要 】

There are very good records about the bitumen trade from Dalmatia from the second half of the 13th century in Dubrovnik; in the second half of the 14th century there was an at tempt to smu¬ggle bitumen from Ancona across the Croatian sea to Venice. In the first part of the 15th century there was trade in bitumen in Šibenik and Zadar, An earlier bitumen trade can be presumed. The main trading places in the middle ages were in Dalmatia: Dubrov¬nik, Zadar and Šibenik, while in the more recent period, after the Turkish occupation of a large part of Dalmatia, Obrovac, Novi¬grad, Skradin and some other places became frontier trading posts. Bitumen was imported into Dalmatia from occupied Lika and Bos¬nia. There was also some trade in man-made or imitation bitumen (the paper is published in Croatian).
