【 摘 要 】

For some thirty years, Western societies have experienced unprecedented spatial and temporal shrinkage that questions the links between spatial and social mobility. We propose shed light on this issue from mixed data that cover a highly mobile population for job reasons. To what extent are reversible spatiotemporal practices, such as intensive travel for professional reasons, existential and identity forming experiences that irreversibly transform individuals who move? At the scale of everyday life and also at the life course scale, the practices of high mobility necessarily irreversibly transform the highly mobile, and this transformation is even stronger when the practices persist over time. If the compression of time and space provides more leeway for individuals, it is accompanied by a growing mobility injunction which rather tends to compel social movement of individuals.
