【 摘 要 】

The COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting the tourist industry and its impact could be felt for many more months, if not years. Tourism will need to recover as fast as possible, but for that to happen, travellers will have to be there in great numbers. This article presents the results of a survey among travellers (n=1,084) at the start of the confinement in Canada. It seems that close-to-home trips will be favoured and that recreational trips will only resume when conditions will be conducive and rates competitive. Literature on disasters and health crises shows that it is crucial to reassure travellers as to the government’s authorization for safe travel before launching advertising campaigns to encourage travelling abroad. Based on the results of the analyses, frequent travellers and millennials are those more likely to return to their travelling habits.
