【 摘 要 】

In 1809, the Bonapartist sympathiser Francisco Amorós y Ondeano ordered the publication of the Gazeta de Santander, a propaganda instrument at the service of the central government. Official proclamations were another tool employed to attract support for the new dynasty. This article examines some of the measures taken by the Bonapartist regime in the province of Santander during the early months of the Spanish War of Independence.
