【 摘 要 】
The aim of this article is to determine what types of paradigm are involved in linguistic comparison (as expressed in French). The introductive section deals with various definitions of the two notions of comparison and paradigm. The core of the article is devoted to two types of comparison, namely quantitative comparison (equality and inequality) and similative comparison (a qualitative type of comparison) ; the latter being further subdivided into « simple » similative comparison (i.e. similarity) vs. « figurative » similative comparison (i.e. analogy). It is shown that quantitative comparison, as well as similarity, is based on an extensional paradigm corresponding to an ontological category of homogeneous elements ; whereas analogy, as well as non-canonical uses of quantitative comparison, operate with heterogeneous elements : the characteristic property of the paradigmatic element (paragon) selected as the standard of comparison, discursively sets up an intensional paradigm. The author puts forward the following words : comparison, extensional/intensional paradigm, paragon, (in)equality, similarity vs. analogy.
