【 摘 要 】
The 1920’s decade witnessed a progressive approximation between French and Brazilians in the field of biomedical science. Abstracts of original Brazilian researches were pulished in the « Société de Biologie » of France. French and Brazilian physicians took part in integrated exchange programs, giving talks in both countries. Medical journals, as the Revue Sud-Américaine de Médecine and A Patolojia Geral, started to be published under the auspices of French scientists. The present paper discusses such approximation in a context of intense international competition for occupying scientific niches in Latin America during the interwar period. The French strategies for scientific cooperation were based on the ideals of « latinity » as means of emphasizing ties between France and Latin America. As a counterpart, it was verified the signification attributed by Brazilian physicians regarding their participation in the French-Brazilian organizations of intelectual cooperation in the 1920s and 1930s.
