【 摘 要 】

The Brothers Grimm were criticised by contemporaries for having altered the form and content of the originals they had collected, and also because they retained elements that might wound the sensibilities of younger readers. This controversy has continued in Germany—and not only in Germany—down to the present day. The adaptations available to children and juveniles in Portugal show that this has been an issue both past and present, as we can see if we compare and analyse some of the tales that are considered significant for their aesthetic quality and for the way in which they tackle some aspects with a moral dimension.
