Homo Loquax Pinochet: Imágenes y estereotipos en la prensa chilena

【 摘 要 】

Este trabajo recopila atribuciones y estereotipos recurrentes, difundidos por los periódicos La Tercera, El Mercurio, El Siglo y La Nación en torno a la figura del general ® Augusto Pinochet y a su pertenencia al mundo militar, contextualizándolos según el criterio central de formación de imágenes (image building). La selección de los medios tuvo en cuenta criterios de tiraje, influencia y orientación editorial. Los textos se examinaron usando un marco de análisis cualitativo del discurso. Se identificaron algunos de los momentos más relevantes para Pinochet dentro del periodo 1990-2004 (mayo, antes del escándalo del Banco Riggs), observándose una primera etapa de mayor significación dentro del relato periodístico y otra final, en la que progresivamente desaparece de la escena noticiosa nacional.
This work features the attributions and recurrent stereotypes spread by the Chilean newspapers La Tercera, El Mercurio, El Siglo and the government daily La Nacion, in relation to the figure of General Augusto Pinochet as himself and to his ties to the military circles, contextualizing them according to the central criteria of image building. The media texts were examined using a qualitative discourse analysis framework The selection of the media took into account some aspects as circulation, influence and editorial orientation. They were identified the most relevant moments of Pinochet's image building process observed during the period 1990-2004 (until May and before Riggs scandal). It was possible to distinguish two stages. The first one records his active role as news generator and the second one, when his gravity and significance within the press coverage began to decline.
