【 摘 要 】

The aim of this article is to examine El culto graduado by Castillo Solórzano, based on certain codes of conduct, particularly the concepts of discretion, vulgarity, dissimulation and simulation. With a view to reflecting on its narrative composition and the resulting implications for the conception of the novella as a genre, we propose to establish an intertextual dialogue with the work of Cervantes. Our concern is to highlight similarities and differences between the two authors.
