【 摘 要 】
Listeria monocytogenes is the third common cause of bacterial meningitis. It is an important cause of life-threatening infections in immunocompromised population. A 52-year-old immunocompetent man with chronic alcohol consumption was admitted to the emergency department with fever and confusion. In cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), 800 leukocytes (neuthrophil 70%) per mL were found and CSF/serum glucose rate was 0.58. Ceftriaxone and penicillin G were administered to the patient. L. monocytogenes grew from CSF sample. The patient was discharged after penicillin G treatment had been given for 14 days. In conclusion, L. monocytogenes should be considered in elderly and alcoholic patients with clinical symptoms of meningitis.
