【 摘 要 】

This study analyses thewritings of a group of authorsfrom the state of Piauí who, in thefirst decade of the 20th century,used literature as a strategy forprescribing to society new ways ofperceiving and experiencing familyrelationship within the home. Themain argument is organized aroundthe idea that these writings aimed tooffer cultural parameters thatfavored on the one hand a breakwith traditional cultural practices,which maintained a certain lack ofdistinction between public andprivate spaces.
