【 摘 要 】

The article is devoted to a research of the evolution of the legal status of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Czech Republic, namely of its transition from the Soviet model of organization of the Prosecutor’s Office to the modern Western European model. Czech national feature of this process was the change of the name of the state authority, as “prosecutor’s office” was replaced by “state representation”. At the same time the functions and the powers of the Prosecutor’s Office, the organization and the appointment of the prosecutors were changed. A legal framework for the study was the constitutional documents of the Czech Republic, as well as the Act on the Public Prosecutor’s Office 1993, which has been updated several times. As a scientific basis the works of Czech experts in the field of constitutional law, such as J. Filip, V. Pavlíček, K. Klíma, and other literature in Russian, Czech and English languages were used.
