【 摘 要 】
This article presents an analysis, under the light of French semiotics, of two myths of Brazilian Indian tribes that take care of the acquisition of the fire. The aim is to demonstrate that the texts examined are coherent as a whole and that certain elements, often taken as evidence of discursive chaos, such as the presence of animals with the semantic trace /human/, are also part of that. The analysis reveals that in both texts the conquest of the fire sets a figurativization of a process of normalization of the reality that explains the cultural elevation of the man/Indian in relation to beings confined to the sphere of the nature.
