【 摘 要 】
Emissions caused by towns and cities of industrialised countries can be regarded as a main problem in terms of global pollution and the reasons for the greenhouse effect. For this reason, strategies and concepts aiming at a reduction of greenhouse emissions should focus on urban structures. In this paper it is discussed if the concept of a “Zero-Emission-City” (ZEC) — a city which is to a large extent emission free (which seems to be utopian at first view) — might be an appropriate guideline vision for a sustainable urban development. The paper shows spatial and technological opportunities, which are suitable both for a ZEC-strategy and as recommendations for technological approaches for its implementation. Finally concrete target values are provided, in order to give orientation for a notional master plan for reaching ZEC until 2050.
