ThispaperreviewstheliteratureontheemergenceofPublic-Private Partnershipsfrom1980to2016;itpresentstheirorigin,evolution,advantages, obstacles,andmodelsaswellassomesuccessstoriesoffinancialstructures that adopted this approach. Besides, the Latin American and Colombian cases are compared in terms of the mechanisms that have been established and the PPP projectstobeexecuted.Thelastsectionpresentsrecommendationsforsome projects in the Development Plans of Medellín and Antioquia that could be carried out through PPPs.
