【 摘 要 】
This article reports on the results of research on a group of families participating in anassisted self-building project that took place in Saltillo and will soon be applied in CiudadJuárez. The projects goal was to test the viability of a technology based on the use ofprefabricated materials, which was developed in poor neighborhoods in Saltillo using a selfbuildingplan and a gendered perspective. The project was based on the idea that solidaritynetworks, which are woven around the building of a family home, are an intangible asset thatis insufficiently served by social programs on housing, particularly, organized and assistedself-building programs. The results consider the utility of this type of support for lowincomesectors.
