【 摘 要 】
Background:Olderpedestriansareatriskofhigherratesofinjuriesandmortality.Thiscouldbeduetoincreasedphysicalandcognitiveimpairmentsinelderlypeople.Mostavailabledataoninjuriesintheelderlydonotincludetheirperceptionsandconcernsregardingaccidentswhentheygoout.Objectives:Theaimofstudywastoidentifyelderlyperceptionsregardingroadtrafficinjuries(RTIs)inShiraz,acityinsouthernIran.PatientsandMethods:Inthiscross-sectionalstudy,165participantsover60yearsofagewereconvenientlysampledfrom10publicparksand3mosques.Datawascollectedusingquestionnairesadministeredbyatrainedinterviewer.ThequestionscaptureddemographiccharacteristicsandconcernsaboutRTIswhengoingout.DatawasenteredintoSPSSversion16,andthesignificancelevelwassetat0.05.Results:Oftheparticipants,55.4%(n=92)weremenand44.2%(n=73)werewomen.Themeanage(SD)ofparticipantswas70.1(6.86).Morethan60%ofparticipantswereconcernedaboutRTIswhengoingout(morethan40%wereconcernedoftenoralways),andonly33.5%ofparticipantswereneverconcernedaboutRTIswhengoingout.Sixtypercentofparticipantsreportedthattheynevergooutatnight.Motorcycleswerethevehiclethatcausedthemosttroublefortheelderlywhilewalkingoutsideoftheirhomesandcrossingtheroadorintersections.Conclusions:AttentiontoelderlyconcernsaboutRTIisimportant;fromtheperspectiveofelderlypeople,thiswouldleadtotheprovisionofasaferenvironmentforelderlypedestrians.Thisage-compatibleenvironmentwouldcausefewerRTIconcernsforelderlypeoplewhentheyareperformingoutdooractivitiesandwouldallowthemtowalkoutsidemoreoften,evenatnight.
